The advantages of digital
While Digital technology holds many advantages as its creation has changed the way we live as a society. Everything that is digital has the ability to separate the noise from a signal, creating a clear and concise form of technology. One advantage of digital is that it is very efficient. In today’s age, everything digital makes lives as humans a lot easier, as it calls for less effort and typically rules out some errors that could potentially be made. Another advantage is that digital has improved communication throughout the entire world. Whether it is through the alphabet being considered “digital” or the new age of technology, digital has dramatically changed how fast and reliable communication is between people.
The advantage of having information digitally is tied with how easy it is to capture and use information and images. Having items digitized makes them easily accessible and easy to use. Therefore all items which are digitized have an advantage over those which are not, and can be easily lost. It also is easy to catch peoples attention digitally, and sometimes this is very easy, as seen by our photo editing in last class. However, there are lots of limitations. For instance, for many people it is easier to read a paper book rather than an online one due to pressure or strain on the eyes caused by screens. Additionally information can be easily tampered with, in the case of websites such as Wikipedia who allow people to alter information. There is also a significant cut in time it takes to learn information through the accessibility of it.
Digital systems are much more efficient in managing signal and noise compared to analog systems. Digital things have much more precision and accuracy as they use 0s and 1s to ensure accuracy over long distances. Analog signals are continuous and prone to distortion from noise. Digital signals can recover original information with noise because of error correction and regeneration techniques while analog signals don’t perform well in environments with lots of noise. Finally, digital offers advanced signals while analog systems rely on bulky hardware.
Digital’s precision, resilience, and processing abilities make it far better than analog systems when managing signal and noise.
